We started the journey of Increasing Your Capacity and Slump Proofing Your Leadership last fall.  Before we publish the final post tomorrow, I felt it was important to review the first nine chapters of this series.

I have given much strategic thought to this issue since speaking with arguably the top church consultant in America.  I asked what was the primary difference he saw in SuperMega pastors and pastors who may not be achieving their maximum potential.  He mentioned that many times high-capacity pastors simply had “more horsepower” than other leaders did.

This led me to self-examine my own “horsepower”.  Was it where it needed to be and if not, could it be increased?  As I studied this topic, particularly an article on Peyton Manning written by Peter King, I felt addressing the following questions could increase my capacity while positioning myself against periods of low performance.  Each question is examined in detail in the Categories section under Increasing Capacity.

Question #1 – The Treasure Question.  Do I Love What I Do?

Question #2 – The Satisfaction Question.  Do I Think I Can Get Better?

Question #3 – The Information Question.  Am I a Continual Learner?

Question #4 – The Timing Question.  Do I Crockpot or Microwave My Ideas?

Question #5 – The Environmental Question.  Does My Organization Provide the Environment For My Capacity to Increase?

Question #6 – The Flight Question.  Do I Help Others Soar Higher?

Question #7 – The Margin Question.  Do I Use My Marginal Time Wisely?

Question #8 – The Confidence Question.  Do I Trust My Preparation?

Question #9 – The Coaching Question.  Do We Evaluate Our Performance as a Team?

Tune in tomorrow for the final question, The Christ Question which asks “Am I Reaching My Full Redemptive Potential?”  I can wait to see how practicing these concepts will changes our lives.
