Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers is not only the best quarterback in the NFL, he is the league’s best player.  What is fascinating for all leaders are the reasons why.

ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer gives the following reasons why Rodgers is so great:

  • “The accuracy of a (Tom) Brady.  The brainwork at the line of scrimmage of a (Peyton) Manning.  The toughness and courage of a (Drew) Brees.” – Note what the best leaders possess – Preciseness, Intelligence, Courage, and are Mentally Tough
  • “Aaron Rodgers trust them (his 12 teammates who caught passes against the Atlanta Falcons) and makes them look better…He does a great job of dissecting the defense, finding the match-up, and executing.” – Dilfer teaches us that the best leaders also possess – Trust, They Have Invested In Their Teammates, They Are Analytical, and They Execute.

  • Leaders Make A Difference - “Part of Rodgers’ greatness is how he can change a game in an instant, like he did with a 70-yard throw to James Jones in a third quarter that saw the Packers, who had trailed 14-0, go ahead 15-14.”
  • Leaders Are Never Satisfied.  They Continually Improve – TE Jermichael Finley says, “Oh yeah, he’s getting a lot better.”
  • Private Preparation Is Revealed In Public Performance – WR Jordy Nelson adds, “We know he can make plays. He makes them all the time in games and practice. He’s such a competitor that he’ll do it in practice, too.”

Great Leaders Proactively Find Sources Of Motivation – Rodgers may have found it in former teammate Brett Favre.  Current teammate Clay Matthews told Jim Rhome, “Obviously, I didn’t play with Brett at the time. He’s a fantastic athlete and what he did for this organization, but with backhanded comments like that, I’m sure it hits a chord with Aaron. He’s a competitor, and he takes everything that people say about him and the criticisms and puts it on display on Sunday. He’s continued to improve in the three years that I’ve been here, and he’s playing at an MVP level.”

Leaders, take a look at the list of qualities the Rodgers possess.  Would they describe you?  If so, you may be the best at what you do as well.
