I always love traveling to The Cove Church in Mooresville, NC located about 30 minutes north of Charlotte.  In addition to having as absolutely as nice and competent a church staff as you will ever meet, there is a stretch of road that is extremely relaxing for me to drive.  To get there from my home, you must travel I-85 North from Atlanta, through South Carolina, and almost to Charlotte.  There is heavy traffic throughout the entire 4-hour trip which is also accompanied by many 18 wheelers.

However, just before Charlotte, you can take a bypass off I-85 to get to I-77.  This bypass is basically untraveled and is just relaxing.  It is such a relief from the heavy traffic.  I literally feel my blood pressure go down as I see the exit sign for the bypass.

I always love traveling to the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Georgia.  To get there from my home, you must travel I-75 South through Atlanta to Macon, GA.  While in Macon you turn left on I-16 where you will travel 156 miles to I-95.

Much like the bypass to I-77, I-16 is basically untraveled and is just relaxing.  It is such a relief from the heavy Atlanta traffic.  I do not feel like I am on vacation until I get to I-16.  I literally feel my blood pressure go down as I see the exit sign for the I-16 exit ramp.

As a leader, I wonder what your team feels when they see your caller ID appear or get a text or email from you in their Inbox.  Do they feel pressure, congestion, obstacles, hassle, or anxiousness.  Do they literally feel their blood pressure going up just by seeing your name?

Or much like the two exit ramps mentioned above, do they feel teamwork, partnership, assistance, or solutions have arrived?

Fathers, let’s personalize this.  How does your family feel when they hear the garage door go up?  How do they feel when you walk in the door?  Do they feel stress and pressure?  Or do they feel love, joy, peace, security, and solutions have arrived?

Here are the bigger questions for me.  How does my team feel when they see my name appear?  How does my family feel when I walk in the door?

Fathers and leaders, when you arrive on the scene, how are those you are called to serve really feeling?
