It was an incredible week for leadership teaching on the web.  The following are my 10 favorite posts from the past five days.  They provide a great cross-section of thought that impact many areas of discipline.  In addition, I think most leaders will find these posts very inspiring.

  1. New Church Giving Statistics Revealed by Casey Graham.  Casey, the founder of Giving Rocket, surveyed over 1,000 churches on the subject of giving.  You have to sign up and get his free report.  The findings will both shock you and confirm some things you know intuitively.
  2. Cowboys shock Claiborne with trade; more first-round thoughts by Peter King of Sports Illustrated.  The Cowboys selection of LSU cornerback Morris Clairborne provides us a huge lesson from the NFL Draft.  Leaders, you are never out of options.  One reason is because you never know who is watching you.
  3. How To Know You’re Out In Front by John Maxwell.  Sobering reminders from the leadership expert himself!
  4. The 2012 Glossary of Church World Terms by Bryan and Shannon Miles of the MAG Advisory Group.  Very humorous look at the current tribal language of church leadership.
  5. 6 Steps For Creating A Game Changer by Mike Myatt.  Thanks to Thomas McDaniels for telling me about Mike Myatt.  Mike does a weekly post that gives unique insights into leadership.
  6. Sing Along by Christy Nockels – Great post that describes the origin and meaning of her incredible song.  A must-read.
  7. The Piers Morgan vs. Tony Robbins Showdown (and the lesson it teaches about blogging) from www.PushingSocial.com.  For all leaders who view themselves as “prophets”, “telling it like it is”, or “keeping it real”, please do the rest of us a favor and read this post.
  8. Bieber Fever by Priscilla Shirer.  Priscilla’s memorable European experience reminds us all of what is really important.
  9. The Key To A Great Meeting Is Kicking Some People Out Of It by Ken Segall.  Every pastor and church board needs to read this.  I could not agree more with Ken’s thoughts.
  10. Are Pastors Overpaid? on www.ChurchLeaders.com.  I actually wrote this post and it is one of my personal favorites.  However, what is interesting is the 53 (and counting) comments that the post elicited.  Wow!  There are some interesting things being said about the subject of pastoral compensation.
