On Tuesday, May 10th, Steph Curry, the transcendent superstar point guard of the Golden State Warriors, was named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive year. Even though he is the greatest ball handler and shooter in league history, what I admire most about Curry is his character and the type of individual he is.
Curry was recently profiled by Sports Illustrated writer Rick Reilly in their March 7th edition. As I read Reilly’s article, I gleaned the following 12 Reasons Steph Curry Is Such A Great Leader.

Steph Curry Struggled Early – It is a Biblical and leadership reality that struggle is necessary for strength. Curry said, “It took me until my fourth year to be on a winning team in this league.”

Steph Curry Is Generous – He donates three nets for every three pointer he makes to Nothing But Nets, an organization which puts up antimalaria bed nets in Tanzania.
Steph Curry Does Not Have A Sense Of Entitlement – Head coach Steve Kerr says, “Steph takes a regular room (on road trips) like everybody else, goes everywhere the of the guys do.”

Steph Curry Cares For Those Who Are Suffering – At a recent game in New York, Curry went out of his way to introduce himself to a young bone cancer patient named Sofia, a raving Steph Curry fan. Curry said to the young girl, “I heard you got some bad news this week. I just want you to know it’s going to be O.K. Keep fighting. You’ve got a great support system. Lean on them, O.K.?”
Steph Curry Is Kind – Sofia’s mom Geralyn said, “Who gets diagnosed with bone cancer and then, three days later, meets their all-time hero? And then that hero turns out to be soooooo nice!”
Steph Curry Is Humble – Sofia adds, “It was like he didn’t even know he was famous.”
***BONUS*** Steph Curry Is A Strong Christian – A leader’s talent can sometimes take them to a place where their character cannot sustain them. It appears this will not be the case for Curry.
