Do you want to do something great with your life? Do you want your life to truly count? Do you want to make your mark in this world? I do not think any leader wants a life of mediocrity. No leader wants to be average or insignificant. We all want to live remarkable lives.
But living a remarkable life does not come easy. There is a price to pay for success. It is going to fight back. You will encounter problems and those problems will have to solved.

The following are 6 Ways Great Leaders Solve Problems. Then I will provide additional thoughts from Ike to help you:
- Identify The Problem. The problem is always to identify the problem. The solution will eventually become obvious.
- Gather Information. Do not rush to solution. Information must first be gathered at one level. Decisions will be made at another.
- List Solutions. Writing things down is important. Writing things down commits it to memory.
- Test Solutions. Jim Collins teaches in his book Great By Choice to fire bullets, then cannonballs. This could be described as trial and error or research and development.
- Select A Solution. Make a decision.
- Put A Plan Into Action. Passivity is the enemy of problem solving.
Ike added the following 10 additional comments on problem solving:
- “If we can do what is possible, then God is responsible for doing the impossible.”
- “God has to have a position of prominence before decisions are made.” In other words, Ike was teaching us not to go out on our own, make a mess of things, and then ask God to bail us out.
- “You have to remain obedient.”
- “Don’t let your problems become the problem.”
- “Our faith is our reaction to God’s ability.”
- “The way to get God’s wonder tomorrow is to sanctify yourself today.”
- “Humility is the truest ingredient to experience holiness.”
- “An awareness of God is an awareness of your sin.”
- “Sometimes we get trapped by 8-foot ceilings.”
- “I don’t want a job. I want a calling.”
