This morning we are privileged to enjoy ReThink’s Day 2 opening session was a discussion between Andy Stanley, senior pastor of North Point Community Church and Reggie Joiner. Andy talked about the Be Rich campaign, its impact on their church and community and the book Deep & Wide.
The following are 18 leadership quotes I captured during this session:
- The Be Rich campaign is our way to build goodwill in the community.
- We wanted to be proactive in doing good in our community.
- In politics it’s not enough to do good. You need to be seen doing good. That is the same for the church.
- We need to platform our generosity in the community.
- Find the rock star non-profits in your community, show up at their door and say, ‘How can I help you?’
- We would never replicate something someone else is doing well.
- Rich people are not generous. Generous people are generous.
- We’re almost at $30 million we’ve given away in five years.
- I also try to invite non-churched and unchurched neighbors to Be Rich Sunday.
- It shouldn’t be a secret. The community should know the church is a value-add to the community.
- We have the best story. Following Jesus will make your life better and make you better at life.
- You don’t have to believe Jesus is the Son of God to follow Jesus.
- Everybody’s greatest regret is linked to a bad decision in the past if they would have been a Jesus follower.
- This book addresses the three issues everybody deals with – sin, sorrow and death. – Adrian Rogers
- The church is the hope of everybody’s world.
- There is a new opportunity to talk about the church in a way that addresses the craziness.
- The giving potential of your church is WAY bigger than it currently is.
- Be Rich gives us a chance to preach hard about generosity because we’re not keeping any of the money.
