Brian,
I attend AUMC as well with Lenis Black and am the Chair for our Men’s Ministry. I was given your name and website through Lenis. Your web site is amazing and very inspirational. The reason for my reply is to know if you would be interested speaking to our Men’s Ministry for our monthly breakfast meeting or another time as well. We meet the first Sunday of ever month at 7am and have breakfast and a speaker gives a testimony or a great lesson. Let me know if that is possible. Thanks a lot and God Bless!

Hi, nice to meet you !
Doing a study on “Why Men Hate Going to Church?” Why is Christianity, started by a man and His twelve “male” disciples, predominately attended by women?
2 out of 3 church attenders today are women! Overseas, many churches are down to 5% men. Women are stepping up and leading, doing their best, but because of a shortage of men, sadly they are starting to burn out. The church is strongest, healthiest, when both a strong masculine and feminine spirirt are present. I fear we are losing our men and boys to an increasingly “feminine-friendly” church. And, the gender gap is widening each year!! Anyone with insight, experience with this??
Charles,
I think there is a definite feminization that takes place in churches. For instance, when you walk into a church lobby, what do you see – a flower arrangement or a harley? The best resource out there for you is a book by David Murrow entitled “Why Men Hate Going To Church”. I think you may already be reading it. Murrow gives the best insights.
Thanks for subscribing. I look forward to communicating more in the future.
Have a blessed evening,
Brian
Brian,
Yes, I have been reading “Why Men Hate Going to Church”. Amazing book. LOL!
I would definately tend to gravitate towards the Harley over the Flower arrangement. He has a new DVD out on this subject. I hope to get it soon. I’ll let you know how it is. It is great to finally see some attention on this touchy topic. It’s so important to the future health of our church. I’m a Men’s Pastor, so any insights you have would be great. I look forward to talking to you!
God Bless!
Charles

Hi Brian,
Just read your “10 ways to know someone is leaving your church”.
Any suggestions about how to follow up with folks that are showing these symptoms,
& also those that have slowly went thru this cycle, but have just stopped attending over the past month, or six weeks?
Thanks, Paul
pretty beneficial stuff, on the whole I picture this is worthy of a book mark, thanks
I thought it was going to become some dull aged publish, however it definitely compensated for my time. I’ll post a hyperlink to this web page on my blog. I’m certain my website visitors will uncover that really useful.
I heard Crawford on Family Life some time back and he said something like… you live life in a dash and he referred to the dash between your date of birth and date of death as if to say that the dash is a good representation of how short life is. Can you give me his exact quote and is it in one of his books?
Eric
Very nice blog, gratulations
Just wanted to give you a shout from the valley of the sun, great information. Much appreciated.

Brian,
Love your insights and passion. What would you suggest for a book that would help an associate pastor be able to inspire and lead others to get on board in his specific department or areas of ministry responsibility? I am writing a development plan for one of our pastors and that is a developmental area for him.
Grace,
KJ,
Thank you for the kind words and I’m thrilled you enjoy the site. Here’s some thoughts:
Leadership As An Identity by Crawford Loritts – best book I’ve read on properly framing the challenges of leadership.
Spiritual Leadership by J. Oswald Sanders
Next Generation Leader by Andy Stanley
Killing Cockroaches by Tony Morgan – the best book on church leadership I’ve read since Purpose Driven Church by Rick Warren
Bloodlines by John Piper – great book understanding multi-cultural and multi-ethic ministry and the subject of racism.
Courageous Leadership by Bill Hybels – great broad based ministry applications
21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John Maxwell is an absolute must for any library. However, I think his book Thinking For A Change impacted me more.
From a business perspective, go with Tribes by Seth Godin. The best book I’ve ever read on developing a following.
I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Brian
Brian,
As I have read much here on your site I was wondering where you got your statistics on targeting men. I have been asked to verify those statistics so I thought I would come to the source. Thanks for the info and be blessed!!
Marty which stats are you referring to specifically? Thanks, Brian
Hey Brian,
Love the website, I get great ideas, principals and motivation from it.
I have an article that you will need to prepare to write. How Will Muschamp made over the Florida football program. Here is an article you should check out and what he has to recover from: http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-football/story/2012-04-09/urban-meyer-florida-ohio-state-ncaa-violation-recruiting-drugs-program-will-musc
Kevin,
I read the article and of course it is now national news. Unbelievable. The issues surrounding Percy Harvin are shocking! I need to process that entire situation before writing on it. Here is one thought however for Muschamp – where there is great calamity, there is great opportunity.
Thanks for your comments and I hope you comment often again in the future.
