Is it OK to thank God for your smokin’ hot wife? Is He offended by that? Should we be more cultured or reverent during our time before the throne? Or does God value genuineness and authenticity? Is God pleased that we still find our wives attractive?
Here’s my answer – I thank God every day for my smokin’ hot wife!!!! And it appears Senior Pastor Joe Nelms of Family Baptist Church in Nashville, TN does as well.
Pastor Nelms has become an American icon after his amazing pre-race prayer this past weekend. I have nine observations about the prayer:
- I bet his wife Lisa has a self-esteem that is so high it cannot be measured.
- People love humor….and they love humorous people.
- Pastor Helms knew his audience and was in the moment.
- Pastor Helms spoke the tribal language.
- Life should not always be so serious.
- Did you notice what Jimmy Kimmel said about Pastor Nelms on his evening show, “I’d go to church a lot more frequently if I knew he was going to be there.” Go to http://abcnews.go.com/Business/video/pastor-joe-nelms-wild-nascar-prayer-14159123 to see his comments.
- Unchurched people were not turned off at all by the prayer.
- No one had a problem with the closing phrase “In Jesus Name”.
- The name of Jesus was made more famous because of this prayer.
When you look at the results of Nelms’s prayer, we husbands should express our sincere gratitude for our smokin’ hot wives more often. Not only will our wives like us more, so will the rest of the world. In Jesus Name. Amen.
