7 Results Of My Greatest Leadership Mistake

No leader is perfect.  We all make mistakes and have regrets from past behaviors and/or decisions.  I am no different than anyone else in this area.

Ironically, the worst decisions I have made result from passivity.  The greatest leadership mistake I have ever made is that I have not taken enough risks.

The fear of taking risks has had the following 7 results which I deeply regret:

  • Not launching a new product that would revolutionize small groups in churches because of the upfront capital needed.
  • Shrinking back from sharing my faith.
  • Often not made the hard choices or have the hard conversations that needed to take place.
  • Often defaulted to people pleasing.
  • Sometimes not protecting those who needed protecting the most.
  • Not giving whole-hearted participation during times of worship.
  • Not writing my first book….yet.

Oh how I truly admire risk takers!

The good news is that I still have breath.  There is still time to change and take the risks needed to change human life.  Let’s see what happens.

Leaders, if you feel comfortable, share some of the greatest mistakes you have made.
