Tonight, the Alabama Crimson Tide will be defending its national championship against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The following were the leadership quotes from ESPN’s College Gameday prior to kick-off.
- “You (the coach) don’t want to screw this thing up. It’s a player’s game and you want to put them into position to make plays.” – Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer
- “We have to be who we are.” – Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly
- “If you sit back and let it happen to you, it’s going to pass you by.” – Kelly
- “It’s OK to be aggressive and make mistakes.” – Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlim
- “When you are the underdog, you need a fast start.” – Kirk Herbstreit
- “A coach has to play to your team.” – Meyer
- “If you don’t think you can stop somebody, you’re not going to.” – Manti Te’O
- “Everything’s OK for me once the game starts.” – Nick Saban
- “With 37 days to prepare, Nick Saban and Kirby Smart will find a way.” – Jesse Palmer
- “I’ve given Notre Dame everything I’ve got.” – Te’O
- “It’s pure joy.” – Te’O on imagining if Notre Dame wins the national championship
My prediction – the two best defenses in the country are on the field. Low-scoring. Bama wins 17-14 in a close, close game.
