This week I am being dispatched by Injoy Stewardship Solutions (ISS) to attend the 2014 Orange Conference. In an effort to grow in my skills to better add value to pastors and church leaders, I will be live blogging throughout.
Today’s final breakout session was a Senior Pastors Forum featuring Derwin Gray, Mark Batterson, Geoff Surratt, Carey Nieuwhof, Ron Edmondson and Jeff Henderson. The following are 71 leadership quotes covering a variety of leadership topics I captured during the session every pastor and church leader should read: The initials of each speaker are by their quotes.
- You made a huge impact with a thriving church on limited resources. You never let anything be an obstacle. – CN to MB
- It’s not about numbers. It’s not about statistics. When you hear that one story of that one person’s life who has been transferred by the grace of God, that’s what keeps you going. – MB

- One of daily practices is remembering all of who I am is in all of who Christ is. This keeps me from being a spiritual narcissist. – DG

- There are more Kingdom dollars in unproductive churches than productive churches. – RE

- If you have to put up with everything you do as a pastor’s kid, you should get a benefit once in awhile. – GS

- I remembering preaching to 12 people when I was in college…I remember the church having seven pews. What visionary built this church?..But I’d (still) stay up to 2 or 3 in the morning because I needed a word from God. – MB
- I’d rather have one God idea than 1000 good ideas. – MB
- I sometimes preach when I know there won’t be an honorarium. And when volunteers show up I sometimes need to be there rolling up my sleeves. – MB
- I wrote a book on prayer but he wrote the book on prayer. – MB on his father-in-law
