The most important leadership you will ever do is in the home because everyday you are setting precedent and sending people forth into a time you cannot see. Recently, a friend of mine posted the following items in Facebook while his wife was in ICU. It rocked my busy world. After reading, I bet it will rock yours as well.
He wrote, “Lessons learned (and hopefully remembered) while sitting with your spouse in ICU”
1. Hold hands more
2. Take more slow walks together
3. Pray together more often
4. Talk about eternal things more (it’s all that matters)
5. Laugh more
6. Play more together
7. Listen more intently
8. Put the phone down! It will wait
9. Watch them sleep more
10. Pray for her every day as hard as you are praying right now
11. Tell them you love them until they get sick of hearing it
12. Don’t take time together for granted
Husbands and wives, what is one thing from this list you need to start doing TODAY? And oh yes, please say a prayer for my friend’s wife. I know he would appreciate it.
