There is something at every church which is leveraged properly by pastors, which if identified and properly discipled, which if truly understood, and which if fully released to their redemptive potential, can propel pastors and churches go exponentially farther faster.
This “something” is actually “someone”, more correctly put – “a group of people.” These people are financial leaders. Business leaders. Even churches who claim they are “blue collar” without any wealth, still have a Top 10% of givers. All churches have financial leaders. How you disciple them is a key to your ministry’s success.
John Maxwell’s definitive statement is, “Everything rises and falls on leadership.” And a pastor and ministry’s success largely depends on their leadership culture, in particular financial leadership.
On Thursday, March 19th at 2:00 PM EST I will be conducting a webinar where I will be coaching pastors and church leaders. A key component of this time together will be how to effectively disciple financial leaders. You can sign up as well by clicking HERE.
As part of the coaching I will introducing 4 T’s Which Will Help All Pastors And Churches Go Farther Faster. These 4 T’s are vital for pastors. The 4 T’s are:
- Time – Financial leaders work extremely long hours. What time remains is often spent with their spouse and children. As a result, authentic relationships are rare. Pastors, do not ask financial leaders to come to your office. Go to their office. Spend time with them in their environment. When together, be their pastor. Find out about their spiritual condition. How is their family? What is their work/life balance? What motivates them? Show them you care about them as people. Be their pastor.
- Trust – People always want something from financial leaders. They want their money, their time, their influence, their expertise. People want some form of a piece of them. Therefore, financial leaders are often very lonely because they do not know who to trust. Pastors can relate to financial leaders. You work long hours, don’t see your family enough, and don’t know who to trust. Pastors and financial leaders have a lot in common.
- Think – Click HERE for a previous post I wrote entitled 21 Ways Financial Leaders Think. You will not be disappointed.
- Thank – Financial leaders have no shortage of opportunities as to where to invest their hard-earned money. Therefore, pastors must continually cast a compelling vision for the church’s ministry and when your financial leaders then respond appropriately, show gratitude and say, “Thank You.”
Time, Trust, Think and Thank. Pastors, leverage these 4 T’s properly and your ministry will go exponentially farther faster.
In conclusion, there will be one additional benefit. Matthew 6:21 says, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (ESV) When you get a financial leader’s money, it means you also have their heart. You will also now have access to a deep, meaningful, authentic relationship in which the two of you can collectively do something significant to change human life for the glory of God.
