The following are 25 Leadership Quotes from Phil Bowdle from the That Church Conference:
- We are our experiences.
- How is your church doing in creating experiences that impact people?
- Churches are great at giving information, but awful at creating memorable experiences.
- The church is currently information rich, but experience poor.
- We have an opportunity with everything we do, on social media and on a Sunday, to impact people’s lives.
- Just because something happens in your church doesn’t mean it’s remembered.
- Memorable experiences bond the heart of your audience with the heart of god and your church.
- The church must be a platform of connection with people to God
- Memorable moments are personal. They are designed for one individual, even when it’s projected to an audience.
- Memorable moments are unexpected.
- Memorable moments are emotional. Emotional moments speak to the heart.
- Storytelling confirms some truth that deepens our understanding of who we are as human beings. – Andrew Stanton
- Memorable moments are compelling.
- To leverage an experience from a Sunday on social media, ask: a) What was the memorable moment? b) How can we tell the story of the service? c) What resonated from the message? d) What stories need to be told?
- There is a ton of ministry opportunity with each post that you make. Don’t post on Monday-Saturday only to drive people to church on Sunday. Encourage them to come to church, but they need hope in their daily lives, too.
- Create a social media presence that you would want to follow and engage with.
- Humanize your voice. Stop automating and make social communication personal.
- Focus on two-way conversations; use more question marks than periods.
- The goal is not to get everyone to read your blog posts, but to create opportunities with people that God can show up in.
- Create native content based on what works for each specific social media platform.
- Ask yourself, “Would I be proud of this if it was on my personal feed?”
- If you only use the Sunday platform to promote things, and don’t use social media too, you are missing out on mobilizing a large portion of the church.
- Encourage your church staff to engage with the conversation your church is having on social media.
- Go the extra mile to facilitate relationships.
- Do for one what you wish you could do for all. – Andy Stanley
