Leading a local church is the most difficult leadership assignment a person can take on.  This is because of two primary reasons:

  1. You face a real enemy on a daily basis, Satan, who people may or may not face in the marketplace.
  2. You must lead volunteer armies.  These individuals largely determine your level of success, yet you do not have a paycheck to motivate them.

The good news is that other than being a spouse or parent, there is nothing more rewarding than leading in a local church.
