Everyone wants talent but talent is never enough when selecting a leader.  One of my favorite leaders is Mike Linch, the incomparable senior pastor of NorthStar Church in Kennesaw, GA.  I recently wrote about Mike’s leadership in the post You Will Never Be A Friendly Church Without This One Thing.

Mike also has an incredible podcast entitled Linch With A Leader in which he talks with world-class leaders about how they manage the intersection of faith and work.  Recently, his guest was Kevin Burrell.  Kevin has worked in professional baseball as both a player and scout for the past 32 years.  He currently serves with the Chicago White Sox as an area scouting supervisor.  You can hear their full interview here.

Kevin also serves as CEO, Chief Encouragement Officer, of “From The Sandlot – 2 – The Sweet Spot” where he is passionate about helping baseball coaches and scouts reach their full leadership potential.  His goal is to see next generation leaders in baseball understand the importance of living a life of character and integrity, in order to maximize their influence in life.

Mike asked Kevin about the qualities he looks for in a potential draftee.  As Kevin responded, I knew there were significant applications for not only athletes but all leaders in general.  Whether you leader an athletic organization, church, business, non-profit, or in education, these principles are for you.

The following are 10 Things Talent Evaluators Look For In Potential Leaders as provided by Kevin Burrell:
