For the next two days, INJOY Stewardship Solutions has dispatched me to Catalyst ’18 in Atlanta. Catalyst is a 2-day experience to help leaders build great churches, grow strong teams, and be a catalyst for change. This year’s theme is Fully Alive and is based on what the Bible says in John 10:10 – “The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy; I have come that you might have life and have it to the full.”
In addition to the content provided, the team at INJOY Stewardship would like to offer you a FREE gift. As you know, October is Pastor Appreciation Month. Simply click HERE or on the image provided and download a done-for-you script which you can read in your services to honor your pastor and staff. Being a pastor can be challenging to say the least. These words will honor and encourage your pastor and rally your congregation to a standing ovation. Don’t believe me? Click HERE.
The afternoon’s final speaker was Devon Franklin. With a commitment to uplifting the masses through entertainment, Franklin has quickly become a force in the media as well as a leading authority on faith, spiritual wellness and personal development. Beliefnet has called him one of the “Most Influential Christians Under 40,” Variety Magazine named him one of the “Top 10 Producers to Watch,” Ebony Magazine has distinguished him as one of the “Top 100 Influential African-Americans in America,” and even Oprah has called him “a bonafide dynamo…a different kind of spiritual teacher for our times.”
The following are 20 leadership quotes and lessons from his session:
- Too many times we as leaders forsake giving God praise.
- Too often we forsake life.
- Too many times we get excited about a celebrity we have never met.
- There is no celebrity that got on the cross. There is celebrity greater than Jesus Christ.
- We too often live a life thinking of who we think we ought to be.
- I was wrestling with your opinion of me when I don’t even know you.
- Too often you worry about someone’s opinion who did not make you or can take you to your destiny.
- The only opinion that matters is what God has already said about me.
- Too many times we come to church acting alive but we are actually walking dead.
- The fully-alive life is available to you and me but you have to go after it.
- To go where God has called us to go and be who He has called us to be, we must admit we are in pain.
- So many times our pain comes from our expectations not being met.
- Too often we experience because we set expectations God never meant for us to meet.
- Don’t be afraid to be vocal about Jesus and what He has done in your life.
- Can people see Jesus in our social media feed?
- Too often we feel too comfortable in excuses to not do what He has called you to do.
- It’s time to put your excuses to the side and go get what He has called you to do.
- There can be no transformation without transparency. The future leader is a transparent leader.
- Part of our strength is admitting our weakness because it allows Jesus to step in and be our strength.
- We want the victory but we have too much vanity to go get it.
It has been an incredible first day. Be sure to get checking back for more leadership lessons.
Once again, I want to make it easy to honor your pastor this month. Click HERE or on the image provided and download this done-for-you script. Your Board chair or congregational leader can read it in the service. Trust me, few things will honor your pastor more.
