Today I will be providing a series of posts from my annual visit to Johnny Hunt’s Mens Conference in Woodstock, GA. This year’s theme is Game Plan. Over 4,000 men will be live in attendance with another 25,000 attending via simulcast around the world.
Pastor Johnny opened the event with an incredible lessons entitled The Opposite Of Revenge. The following are 42 leadership quotes and lessons from his challenging and convicting lesson:
- We are in 33 states, two foreign countries…. Cuba is the only country in the world that anyone can log on in that country for free.
- We are somewhere between 4,500 and 5,000 in the room and 25,000 outside the room watching tonight.
- If you’re going to build a ministry in which the sun never sets, you can’t do it without men.
- Where would we be without women? The Garden.
- Men are the untapped reservoir for useful energy in God’s Kingdom.
- You are the priests of your home.
- Bitterness poisons your entire system.
- You can’t manage or control sin. The Bible says to flee youthful lust.
- I don’t know anything we have the capacity to do that magnifies Jesus Christ than forgiving somebody.
- Marriage is not about you. Divorce is all about you.
- We struggle with forgiveness because we’ve never understood what His forgiveness.
- You can’t preach God’s forgiveness without preaching the Gospel.
- Jesus was a master storyteller.
- You owe a debt you’re not able to pay. Until that settles in you will have a hard time forgiving others.
- When we’re unforgiving, others are watching.
- When we’re unforgiving, we’re doing damage to the Gospel.
- We’ve made sin palatable. We’ve beatified it.
- We’ll become more Baptiscostal when we realized what God has done. If so, you won’t be singing Amazing Grace while looking at your iPhone.
- Forgiveness is the act of releasing someone for a wrong done to you.
- I’ve owed and I owe.
- Unforgiveness is a bondage that prevents us from loving someone.
- I’m 66. I’ve been married 48 years.
- Janet and I are in the sweetest place we’ve ever been in our marriage. We are in the Golden Years.
- What are the Golden Years a reward for. It is a reward because you never quit and you never stopped giving.
- I’m grateful to God we didn’t quit.
- The first Christian music I ever heard outside church hymns was Jack Price.
- Jesus Christ took all the blame.
- Forgiveness involves an injury – what was said or done.
- It involves debt resulting from the injury.
- It involves cancellation of the debt.
- Anger and compassion – it’s a choice.
- Forgiveness reflects the highest human virtue because it reflects God.
- A person who forgives is a person who emulates Godly character.
- Jesus has a different idea about the value of forgiveness. It is more than a calculator (number of times).
- Where did you learn to forgive? I got married.
- You got a sweet grandmother. She’s got a debt she cannot pay.
- God has no grandchildren.
- You will get eternal bliss or get blistered.
- You being able to be forgiven is not predicated on what you did. It is predicated on what He did.
- Jesus absorbed my debt I could not pay.
- I can go to church feeling the weight of my sin and then go home feeling lightly because my sins have been forgiven.
- If you’re not going to forgive somebody you’re either not saved or you haven’t grown and don’t know what the Gospel is.
