The Top 10 Leadership Posts I Read The Week Of March 18th Plus A Strong Word About Worship Services

Before getting to this week’s Top 10 list, I would like to share the following must-read words from Sherwood Baptist Church senior pastor Michael Catt with his own convicting Top 10 list from a recent Facebook post:

We have, in my opinion a growing disrespect for true worship in our churches and the example is being set on church platforms. We are sending all the wrong signals.

1. When we think worship is only singing.

2. When we think a worship service doesn’t need to include prayer & the reading of Scripture.

3. When the worship team leaves after doing their thing and goes to a green room while the preacher is pouring out the inerrant, infallible Word of God (not just a song with a good vibe & hook that will soon be put aside for another song).

4. When the pastor doesn’t engage in worship prior to the message by either being in a green room or just scoping out the crowd during the singing.

5. When it ever becomes “my time vs your time” between the worship team and the pastor. It’s HIS time and HE should set the agenda. If there’s ever competition than Christ has exited the stage.

6. When anyone assumes they’ve been with God but they sit out the sermon or check their social media during the sermon. This is evidence they’re clueless about being in the presence of God.

7. When the conversation after the service immediately turns to secondary things.

8. When worship needs to be convenient or my absence easily excused.

9. When worship is considered separate from serving and giving.

10. When we judge a service by how we feel rather than, did we sense the presence of God
