The Formula For Achieving Greatness In Your Craft Or Profession

What does it take to achieve greatness in your craft or profession?

First, it takes talent.  But talent alone will not achieve greatness in your craft or profession.  Talent alone is merely potential.

You need to add humility to talent.  As has been stated, humility is not thinking less of yourself.  Humility is thinking of yourself less.  Humility is tied to brokenness.  Brokenness is knowing there is a gap between your natural talent and where God ultimately wants you to be.

But talent and humility are not enough to achieve greatness in your craft or profession.  Humility reminds you a tremendous amount of hard work is needed to fill the gap and turn potential into greatness.  Greatness smells a lot like sweat.

But talent, humility and hard work are not enough to achieve greatness in your craft or profession.  At this stage of the process, hard work then produces skill.  Increased skill is where you see a jump in your performance.  You are now accomplishing things you never have before.  Potential is beginning to be realized.

But talent, humility, hard work, and increased skill are not enough to achieve greatness in your craft or profession.  Increased skill then produces confidence.  Confident people are not apathetic.  Confident people are not passive.  Confident people do not shrink from tasks or assignments.  Confident people not only embrace challenges.  They meet them.  They achieve greatness.

So here is The Formula For Achieving Greatness In Your Craft Or Profession:

Talent + Humility + Hard Work + Increased Skill + Confidence = Greatness

But even this form of greatness is momentary.  Without increasing your character, your greatness will take you to a place your character cannot sustain you.
