  1. The first thing we know about God is He is a creator… It’s the fifth word in the Bible.
  2. The meaning of like is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
  3. To glorify God is to reflect the sum total of His attributes…. His main attribute is holiness. His love is a holy love.
  4. You are creative.
  5. You have to sleep. Your best ideas come before and after sleep.
  6. It takes creativity to plan.
  7. Preachers’ kids come from a place of pain.
  8. God is a God of creativity. Part of glorifying God is creativity.
  9. The Son modeled it. The Spirit empowered it.
  10. We’re creative geniuses but somewhere along life’s journey it is beat out of us.

  15. God’s creativity is intrinsic. It is self-generating and self-perpetuating.  It’s independent.  It’s invitational.  God invites you and me to walk in creativity.

  17. When you’re creative, you have to stop something and start something else.
  18. Church ain’t nice. We’re fighting hell by the square foot.
  19. You have to ask the right people the right questions.
  20. Since you have creative geniuses around you, ask.
  21. Creativity is transcendent.
  22. We have confused style over the transcendent nature of creativity.
  23. Creativity is problem-solving.
  24. Don’t say, “No problem.” We’ll fire you for that.  Say, “My pleasure.”
  25. All pastors do all day long is solve problems.
  26. Creativity is unlearned. At age 5 98% score as creative geniuses.  At age 10 30%.  The trade dreaming for dogma, imagination for memorization.  At age 15, 12%. Adults grade at 2%.
  27. Marriage is #1, kids are #2.
  28. You have to fight for a date night.
  29. Embrace change.  If you’re a leader change.  Why do you change?  Just to change.
  30. I love chaos.  If you don’t have any chaos, you’re not leading.
  31. There are micro-decisions to creativity that give us macro-results.

  33. Many preachers live in the Fall and Redemption.
  34. We can’t renew culture without creativity.
  35. If I hang out with just redeemed people, I get zero creativity.
  36. How do I become creative?
  37. You order yourself into creativity.
  38. You can get so much into the systems and processes you can worship the systems and processes.  Once you become a slave to systems, just stop it… You’ve got to be willing to change.
  39. The three questions people hate to ask – What am I doing?  Why am I doing it?  What are the results?
  40. If you want to build your creativity, get curious about a subject you don’t like.
  41. The sign of a genius is taking something brilliant and making it simple.
  42. Do nothing.  Nothing is underrated.  Schedule nothing.
  43. Walking increases creativity 81%.  95% of participants came back with creative metaphors vs. 51% who sat.
