The COVID-19 crisis forced congregations to leave their church buildings and quickly adapt and learn ways to meet as a faith community virtually. Now, as states ease restrictions for in-person gatherings, leaders are facing another massive challenge—how to relaunch church in their physical buildings amid the ongoing effects and concerns of COVID-19.
In the past two weeks, Aspen Group hosted webinars for approximately 500 church leaders. When asked which feels more daunting—leaving the church building because of COVID-19 shutdown orders, or reopening church as COVID restrictions ease, an overwhelming majority of pastors and ministry leaders said relaunching church is a much more daunting prospect.
To help you sort through some of the questions you may have about relaunching church in a COVID-19 culture, Aspen Group will present a virtual workshop—Relaunching Church in a New Reality—on Wednesday, May 20, 3:00-4:15 pm EDT, as part of Barna’s State of the Church webcast.
In this workshop, Evan McBroom and Marian Liautaud will address key questions churches should ask as they consider how to use ministry space to gather in new, safe, healthy ways. Aspen’s resource, “Key Questions to Prepare for a New Season of Ministry,” provides a framework to help leaders think strategically about how to use their facility as a tool for ministry in this next era of ministry.
Derek DeGroot, Aspen’s VP of Design and Integrated Services, will explore design principles to give leaders a framework for evaluating church facilities and ideas for how to leverage ministry space in new, effective ways. He’ll share practical ways churches can adapt their space as they follow their state’s guidelines for transitioning back to in-person gatherings in increasing numbers.
Aspen’s virtual workshop, Relaunching Church in a New Reality, is part of Barna’s State of the Church webcast focused on the theme of Caring for Souls in a New Reality, which airs on Wednesday, May 20, 1:00-2:40 pm EDT. Barna’s webcast will help pastors and ministry think about how you cultivate your own soul, your influence as a leader, and how you will be changed as a result of this crisis. This webcast event will help set the stage for the ways God will use you next in our new COVID-19 culture.
When you register for the Barna webcast, you’ll have an opportunity to select Aspen’s Relaunching Church in a New Reality virtual workshop. The virtual workshop runs from 3:00-4:15 EDT.
