Shawn Lovejoy on Building a Killer Team Without Killing Yourself or Your Team

1. What will you boast about ten years from now?
2. You will talk to me about the individual impact on people’s lives.  There will names attached to those stories.
3. You’ll boast about the impact you’ve had on people.
4. The team is your legacy.  The team is the work.
5. We don’t use the team to get the work done.  We use work to get the team done.
6. The opposite of peace is not conflict, it’s artificially harmony which creates silos and a lack of commitment.

5 Pillars of a Killer Team

1. Fostering Togetherness – A staff can’t make a team but it can become one.
2. Recruit and Keep the Best Talent – Average talent sends you their highlight reel.  Elite talent has to be recruited.
3. Bolstering Accountability – They do what they say they are going to do.  They show up on time.  They end on time.  They are ridiculously responsive.
4. Structuring for Growth and Peace – Build one pizza teams.
5. Maintaining Rhythms and Finish Lines – The Bible teaches rhythms with people living in intensity and rest.  Success is being fully where your feet are.

Benny Tate on Growth Through Decision-Making

1. We makes choices and the choices make us.  Every decision we make has consequences.
2. The Holy Spirit wants to guide you and every time the Holy Spirit guides you, you will make the right decision.
3. God gave us a Bible and if we’re openly disobeying what He told us to do, why would He keep speaking to us?
4. The god of this world is Satan.  We’re in this world but we’re not of this world.  We’re in an ungodly culture.
5. If the world controls your thinking, you’re a conformer.  But if God controls your thinking, you’re a transformer.
6. God can’t speak to us because of unChristian friends… You can’t hear God because these other voice, the peer pressure is destroying you.
7. We need direction but we a propensity to listen to other voices.  If you’re following the stars you’re not following the Son.
8. God’s Word.  You can’t understand the Bible on your own.  It’s a spiritual book.
9. God speaks to us through His Word.
10. He also speaks to you by prioritizing time alone with Him.  The Holy Spirit has a voice.
11. God can’t speak to some of you because you’ve always got to be active and prioritize no time alone with God.  God speaks to us when we give Him preiminence.
12. For God to whisper to me, I’ve got to get still.  I’ve got to get close to Him.  I can’t whisper to the guy on the back row.
13. He speaks to us through Peace.  If you’re praying about something and you don’t have peace, don’t do it.  Keep praying.
14. He speaks to us through Visions and Dreams.  He can bypass your conscious mind and speak directly to you.
15. He speaks to us through People.  When a man doesn’t listen to his wife he misses 50% of what God wants to say to him.
