At the start of every NFL season hope springs eternal. Every team is undefeated and most fan bases think this just might be the year they win it all. But few organizations are as excited and hopeful as the New York Jets. The primary reason is the acquisition of future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
The upcoming video was taken from the initial episode of this year’s Hard Knocks and was widely discussed this past week. As you are about to witness, Jeff Ulbrich, the defensive coordinator for the Jets, breaks down a recent practice play and the team’s new quarterback.
Ulbrich’s words teach us the two most exciting things a new leader brings to an organization. BTW, fortunately all the vulgar language was bleeped out.
"He's our quarterback. He's ours."

The Two Most Exciting Things A New Leader Brings To An Organization Are Hope And Legitimized Confidence
As mentioned previously, almost every team enters the upcoming season with a heightened sense of optimism but Rodgers’s unique talents give the team legitimized confidence. Coach Ulbrich said, “I don’t think there’s any other human on Earth that can make that throw. He’s our quarterback. He’s ours. He’s ours.”
His excitement of having the right leader on the team is palpable. I can only hope our organizations are as equally excited to have you and I as part of their teams.
The other thing a new leader brings an organization is hope. Writer and musician Andy Crouch said, “Human beings can live for 40 days without food, four days without water and four minutes without air. But we cannot live for four seconds without hope.”
Successful leaders always give their teams hope by pointing to a brighter tomorrow. Rodgers has done that for the Jets’s coaches, fans, and players. Many think the Jets have a chance to make a deep play-off run. If the team gets their offensive line fixed, they just might be right.
