Recently, I wrote the post The Most Attractive Quality A Leader Can Have<\/a>. \u00a0In it I made the argument that if you could only choose one leadership characteristic, humbleness would be the most attractive. \u00a0The response to the post was overwhelming.<\/p>\n

In fact, the article’s most quoted statement was from my Senior Pastor\u00a0Dr. Crawford Loritts<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>who said, \u201cIf a leader is unteachable, run from them as fast as you can.\u201d<\/p>\n

This past weekend, Dr. Loritts continued the theme when he spoke on the importance of being a repentant individual. \u00a0His thoughts were so insightful I wanted to pass them along to you.<\/p>\n

The following are 15 Thoughts On Why Pastors And Christian Leaders Refuse To Change For The Better<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

  1. Some people do not change because they are not desperate enough.<\/li>\n
  2. Some people have a high threshold for disobedience.<\/li>\n
  3. Some people do not repent because of pure pride.<\/li>\n
  4. If you have made up your mind (not to repent), no amount of evidence will convince you otherwise.<\/li>\n
  5. When power is used for intimidation, it flows from fear and insecurity.<\/li>\n
  6. Power should be used to serve others.<\/li>\n
  7. Being immersed in religion is not the same as having a relationship with God.<\/li>\n
  8. Repentance requires humility.<\/li>\n
  9. Christian conformity is not repentance.<\/li>\n
  10. Self-deception results in degeneration of personal behavior.<\/li>\n
  11. A failure to respond to (Biblical) Truth builds a resistance to Truth.<\/li>\n
  12. Failure to repent produces hardness.<\/li>\n
  13. Repentance is a gift from God.<\/li>\n
  14. Repentance softens our heart but only a soft heart repents.<\/li>\n
  15. People only change when they repent and believe.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Dr. Loritts also provided the following 5 signs of a fruitful Christian life<\/strong> just a few weeks ago:<\/p>\n

    1. Are you growing in Christ-like character?<\/li>\n
    2. Are others being impacted by your (lack of a) Christ-like witness?<\/li>\n
    3. Are you overcoming sin?<\/li>\n
    4. Do you have a desire to do and be what God wants?<\/li>\n
    5. Do you love God’s Word or do you attempt to avoid it?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      None of us are perfect. \u00a0What do you to repent of and change TODAY as a pastor and Christian leader?<\/p>\n
