{"id":1770,"date":"2010-09-28T01:29:53","date_gmt":"2010-09-28T01:29:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briandoddonleadership.com\/?p=1770"},"modified":"2010-09-28T01:29:53","modified_gmt":"2010-09-28T01:29:53","slug":"20-thoughts-from-a-fathers-stream-of-consciousness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briandoddonleadership.com\/2010\/09\/28\/20-thoughts-from-a-fathers-stream-of-consciousness\/","title":{"rendered":"20 Thoughts From A Father’s Stream Of Consciousness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rat-race-escape-artists.com\/images\/father-daughter.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Have you ever noticed how quickly children grow up?<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0 I am about the be the father of a teenager but I still see my daughter as a\u00c2\u00a0little girl\u00c2\u00a0crawling down the hall in diapers.\u00c2\u00a0 <strong>Where did the time go?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I am in a reflective state of mind this evening.\u00c2\u00a0 <strong>It\u00c2\u00a0just amazes me\u00c2\u00a0watching God shape her mind and personality<\/strong>.\u00c2\u00a0 Therefore, I will give you just twenty\u00c2\u00a0random thoughts on\u00c2\u00a0being a father that I am thinking\u00c2\u00a0tonight.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>The first two hours of her life<\/strong> I held her and just talked to her.\u00c2\u00a0 We’ve been talking ever since.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Saturday morning dates<\/strong> with my daughter are my most relaxing time of the week.\u00c2\u00a0 For more information on this, click <a title=\"The Greatest Leadership Role\" href=\"http:\/\/wp.me\/pVReH-4Y\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Going to church<\/strong> as a family\u00c2\u00a0is my favorite time of week.<\/li>\n<li>Watching\u00c2\u00a0my daughter\u00c2\u00a0<strong>lead worship<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0during children’s church makes me proud.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Baptizing her<\/strong> is my favorite memory.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Slow walks on the beach<\/strong> with my daughter are soothing.<\/li>\n<li>Playing <strong>putt-putt<\/strong> and <strong>riding go-carts<\/strong> together with her are fun.<\/li>\n<li>Watching her develop a <strong>sense of fashion<\/strong> is like watching an eagle leave the nest.<\/li>\n<li>Walking into her room and finding her <strong>reading the Bible<\/strong> makes me think I’ve been part of doing something right.<\/li>\n<li>Hearing her say <strong>“I’m sorry”<\/strong> lets me know she is emotionally healthy.<\/li>\n<li>She <strong>dresses modestly<\/strong>.\u00c2\u00a0 This\u00c2\u00a0is modeled by her mother.\u00c2\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>She knows when <strong>something\u00c2\u00a0inappropriate comes on television<\/strong> and changes the channel.\u00c2\u00a0 This shows me she has discernment.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Parent Teacher Conferences<\/strong>.\u00c2\u00a0 I actually really enjoy these.<\/li>\n<li>She will be <strong>driving<\/strong> before I know it.<\/li>\n<li>A boy <strong>whistled at her<\/strong> for the first time last week.\u00c2\u00a0 That made me mad but I’m ready for that type of behavior.<\/li>\n<li>I think she will make a <strong>great babysitter<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>I could kick myself<\/strong> every time I come up short as a father.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Loving her mother<\/strong> models what she should look for in a husband and gives her a strong sense of security.<\/li>\n<li>Telling her that <strong>I love her<\/strong> forever, no matter what is so important.<\/li>\n<li>Telling her\u00c2\u00a0that <strong>Jesus loves her<\/strong>, no matter what is more important.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Welcome to the Brian Dodd stream of consciousness on being a father.\u00c2\u00a0 I would love for all fathers to chime in on what they are thinking as they read this.<\/p>\n<p>For future leadership insights, please subscribe to this post or click <a title=\"RSS Feed\" href=\"https:\/\/briandoddonleadership.com\/feed\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Have you ever noticed how quickly children grow up?\u00c2\u00a0 I am about the be the father of a teenager but I still see my daughter as a\u00c2\u00a0little girl\u00c2\u00a0crawling down the hall in diapers.\u00c2\u00a0 Where did the time go?
