has just named the 1976-77 <a title=\"Montreal Canadiens\" href=\"canadiens.nhl.com\/ \">Montreal Canadiens<\/a> as the greatest hockey team of all-time<\/strong>.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0The following is a list of the\u00c2\u00a0entire Top 10 with\u00c2\u00a0leadership lessons from each:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Talent Development and Retention<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0– The ’76-77 Montreal Canadiens had 8 Hall of Fame players who came up together through their system.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Opportunity<\/strong> – There is a difference between sensing an opportunity and seizing it.\u00c2\u00a0 The ’55-56 Montreal Canadiens were so\u00c2\u00a0good at scoring during power plays\u00c2\u00a0that the league was forced to change the rules.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Leading By Example<\/strong> – A fundamental leadership principle is that people do what people see.\u00c2\u00a0 <a title=\"Wayne Gretzky\" href=\"www.gretzky.com\/\">Wayne Gretzky<\/a>, the greatest player of all-time and center of the ’83-84 Edmonton Oilers, established the pace by being the team’s hardest worker.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Versatility<\/strong> – The ’81-82 New York Islanders\u00c2\u00a0could play any style, and win.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Intelligence<\/strong> – The ’51-52 Detroit Red Wings\u00c2\u00a0had nine players who would eventually\u00c2\u00a0become head coaches or general managers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Diversity<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0 – Eleven players from the ’01-02 Detroit Red Wings represented five countries in the 2002 to the team after 10 seasons with the New York Rangers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Priorities <\/strong>– As <a title=\"John Maxwell\" href=\"www.johnmaxwell.com\">John Maxwell<\/a> teaches, great teams never confuse activity with accomplishment.\u00c2\u00a0 The ’91-92 Pittsburgh Penguins finished the season only seven games above .500.\u00c2\u00a0 However, they won 11 consecutive play-off games to win their second straight Stanley Cup.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Youth<\/strong> – Great teams are constantly getting younger.\u00c2\u00a0 The ’46-47 Toronto Maple Leafs featured nine rookies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Depth<\/strong> – Each of the ten teams listed all had great depth.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Leadership<\/strong> – Each team had great coaching headlined by Scotty Bowman and Hap Day who are considered the greatest coaches in hockey history.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Leadership, Depth, Youth, Priorities, Key Additions, Defining Moments, Diversity,
