This week, the Atlanta Business Chronicle unveiled its Best Places To Work edition.  The following are the top Georgia companies in their individual categories as well as what makes these organizations so special.

Keller Williams Realty/The Rawls Group – the #1 ranked company in the Large Employer Category

  • They provide their agents with education, resources, support, and the tools they need to be successful.
  • They promote a “We got your back” environment.
  • “Sean Rawls and his team are the best example of teamwork and integrity that I know of in the industry.” – Unknown employee
  • “[Leadership] stresses ethics and doing the right thing.” – Another employee
  • Company leadership provides cutting-edge technology, many training classes, access to critical market data.  Rawls adds, “We can show you things you didn’t know and back it up with facts.  It’s not just our opinion.”
  • They also care about the personal lives of their employees by launching “Masterminds for Working Parents” and weekly exercise groups.

Carithers-Wallace-Courtenay, a provider of office furnishings, is the #1 ranked medium size company.

  • “We try to make everyone feel appreciated.  Happy employees mean happy customers.” – Scott Marshall
  • The leadership methodology is listen, communicate, appreciate, and be transparent about what’s going on.
  • Because top talent always has options, they continually re-recruit employees.
  • The company has fantasy football drafts, go to Atlanta Braves games, and have pizza parties and ice cream socials.  This sounds like my kind of company.

  • In the same report, 36% of employees hope to have a different employer next year.
