Let The Future BeginOn Sunday evening, March 10th my family had the privilege of attending Passion City Church where they celebrated the release of their new album Let The Future Begin.  Senior Pastor Louie Giglio mentioned that this was the best Passion cd ever released and I agree with him.  I can’t recommend enough that everyone click here or on the image to order this masterpiece.

I have stated many times before that I feel Passion City Church is the most influential church in America.  The following are 12 leadership lessons I took from the evening and this great church:

  1. The Church’s Focus – At Passion City Church, it is not about the singers, their songs, or the impact they are having around the world.  At Passion City Church, it is all about Jesus.
  2. The Church’s Mission – The incomparable worship leader Chris Tomlin said, “The music is the front door.  Justice is the back door.”  Tomlin was referring to their desire to send people out to be the hands and feet of Jesus to the poor, enslaved, under-resourced, and those who have no voice.
  3. Great Teams Have Great Depth – Let me just share the names of the Six Step Records team – Chris Tomlin, Kristain Stanfill, Nathan and Christy Nockels, Crowder, Matt Redman, Brett Yonker, and Matt Maher.  Enough said.
  4. The Bible – Louie explained the team’s songwriting process.  The team listed above collectively get on their knees with their bibles open and ask God to give them the songs He wants the people to sing.
  5. Generosity – These artists willing share their efforts with their teammates.  It is standard operating procedure for one artist to write a song and say to another that they should be singing it.
  6. Share The Spotlight – Great leaders point to other individuals and say, “Look at them.  Watch what God is doing in their life.”  Louis went out of his way to spotlight many of the artists who were present.
  7. They Created Tension – While we were waiting to enter the sanctuary, we noticed they were removing all the chairs on pallets.  We knew something special was planned.
  8. Great Leaders Are Attracted To Excellence – With the chairs removed, the sanctuary was standing room only.  Standing behind me were three pastors in town for the Drive Conference at North Point Community Church.
  9. The Role Of Women – From the volunteers to those in leadership and on the platform, women play a role of major importance at Passion City Church.
  10. Each Song’s Purpose – The way Passion City positions their album releases is that they pray for each song and its specific Kingdom assignment.  Do you view your efforts, whatever they may be, as having a Kingdom assignment?
  11. People Will Wait For Excellence – Because there is so much mediocrity in the world, people will stand in line for excellence.  I arrived at the church at 5:15 PM for a 6:45 PM service.  When it came time to enter the sanctuary, I was joined by about 4,000 estimated people.
  12. Service Length Is Relative – There is much discussion today about service length in the Christian community.  I think service length is relative based upon excellence.  Many Passion City services last two hours and no one seems to mind.

Once again, pick up a copy of Let The Future Begin for you and someone else.  It will be the best cd you purchase this year.
