First up was Van Baird who is Chief Thank You Economist of Relational Equity

The following are 21 Leadership Quotes from Van’s very challenging session from the That Church Conference:

Intro statement – “Numbers matter because people count.” – Dave Adamson, Social Media Director of North Point Ministries.

Now onto Van’s comments:

  1. It’s what goes in a relationship that determines what we get out of it.
  2. Content is king. Relationships are Beyonce.
  3. Insurance is the epipen of the financial world–you have to buy it and hope you never have to use it.
  4. Insurance wasn’t connecting. It was the relationships because of what we were sharing online.
  5. The time I got saved was the most memorable moment of my life.
  6. There was an overwhelming sense that I belonged to something greater than me.
  7. Marriage isn’t about the “Big Day”. It’s about every day after that.
  8. We don’t have to sell anything anymore because we have relationships with people.
  9. If your people are posting your church should be listening. If not, we’re not in ministry.
  10. Jesus knew what people needed BEFORE He met them.
  11. As churches grow it becomes more difficult to manage relationships, causing individuals to feel lost and unloved.
  12. In an effort to find community our culture posts their lives online for all to see.
  13. Your church make people feel loved by leveraging what your people are posting online about themselves.
  14. Digital is at its best when stories are being told.
  15. The church has THE best story to tell. The Church should be THE best at using digital platorms. – Haly Veturis
  16. If we stay focused on what “our people” are sharing online, we’ll never run out of content.
  17. When you listen you get to be heard.
  18. The church should be using social media to point people to Jesus. Period. If you’re not pointing people to Jesus you’re failing.
  19. If you are uploading your Instagram photo to Facebook and Twitter, stop it!
  20. Friend people who go to your church.
  21. Listen, listen, listen. Draw people in relationally.
