For two days, I will be live blogging from the GO Georgia Conference in Atlanta, GA.  Go Georgia featured a phenomenal array of both nationally recognized speakers and leading practitioners from the state of Georgia.  Regardless of where you live, anyone serving in church ministry roles can gain practical information on a wide-range of ministry-oriented topics on the information provided.

The next speaker was Rick Muchow.  Rick is a worship coach/songwriter and former worship leader at Saddleback Church in California. The following are 37 quotes I captured during his interesting session on changing worship styles and paradigms:

  1. I became a Christian when I was 17 years old in high school.
  2. Churches don’t always tell you the truth. I was part-time at a church over worship and truth.
  3. For thousands years people have been talking about their preferences in worship music and style.
  4. Change is a part of life.
  5. Seasons come and season go. We all have seasons. You must trust God.
  6. Everyone in this room is going to die.
  7. I served with Pastor Rick (Warren) for 27 years.
  8. Fast, fluid and flexible. Pastor Rick was a great mentor to me.
  9. The first year I was there we doubled in size. God was doing great things there.
  10. Pastor Rick said, “I’m going to read a book a day. What are you doing to keep up?”
  11. Part of the DNA at Saddleback was change. In order to keep up with change you need education.
  12. For 10 years, Pastor Rick read at least one book a day.
  13. How do you get smart? You learn to love to learn.
  14. Even if you’re 50 or older, you can learn a lot.
  15. Pastor Rick didn’t read for the enjoyment of it. He read it for content.
  16. Set your goals super high. And if you don’t reach it you still took big steps.
  17. We don’t have time to be discouraged. There’s a lot of people on this planet who needs the Gospel.
  18. You never know how change can be used for impact for ministry.
  19. It’s better to do ministry with your hands open than trying to control everything. We have too many uptight Christians.
  20. If God has a wallet, your picture would be in it.
  21. We need to adapt quickly to change.
  22. Spirit-led leaders adapt to change.
  23. Change is a vital component of self-growth and corporate growth. When you get comfortable with being uncomfortable there’s no telling what you can accomplish.
  24. Spirit-led leaders embrace change.
  25. The first step to adapting to change is to have a positive attitude towards it.
  26. Change is part of God’s creative design. God created seasons.
  27. The message never changes. Methods always change.
  28. Every season has its purpose and benefit.
  29. Spirit-led leaders keep working because they serve God, not man. People say they want a church service, not a church serve us.
  30. Everybody transitions. Everyone right now is transitioning. Dust to dust. Ashes to ashes. It’s not about who you are but how you do it.
  31. During change you need to protect your mind.
  32. Devote yourself to prayer.
  33. You know you’re devoted to something because you know everything about it.
  34. Cherish is something you think about all the time. I cherish my wife.
  35. The gift of family. What could be better? I cherish the Lord.
  36. Prayer is easy to overlook. There are lots of substitutes for prayer. Worry and even bitterness.
  37. Even if you’re 20 or if you’re 60, you have a lot of ministry left in you.
