9 Leadership Lessons And Quotes From The Disappointing Movie Rampage

I once heard if a movie releases between January and April, it is not good enough to be an Academy Awards nominees to be released at Christmas or a summer blockbuster.  This was not the case for the following films released earlier this year:

However, it is definitely the case for the  Dwayne Johnson’s new movie, the far below-average Rampage.  This film is about an organization called CRISPR which develops a pathogen which accelerates DNA growth and aggression.  This pathogen accidentally infects three animals and the next thing you know, Chicago is being destroyed.

Rampage would fit nicely on the SYFY Channel after Sharknado.  There is no nudity but it has several GDs but you can invest you time more wisely than seeing this.

The following are 9 Leadership Lessons And Quotes From The Disappointing Rampage:

  1. Great Leaders Have A Unique Set Of Skills – Davis Okoye, a primatologist played by Johnson, developed the ability to build strong relationships and communicate with primates through sign language.
  2. Smart Leaders Are Not Impulsive Or Reactionary.  They Remain Calm In The Midst Of Chaos. – Okoye said, “The first rule of dealing with hostile animals is to remain calm.”
  3. Experienced Leaders Value Solitude – Okoye told his team, “I need my me time.”
  4. Leaders Value Clarity – “If animals like you they lick you.  If animals hate you they eat you.  You always know where you stand.”
  5. Your Success Is Determined By Those Around You – The movie’s villains as well as government agent Harvey Russell were B-level as best.  Of course, they had a B-level script to work with.
  6. Jesus Christ Is The Source Of True And Lasting Regeneration. – The infected animals experienced what was referred to as “extreme regeneration.”  This process basically made them indestructible.  Similarly, Jesus Christ did not come to give us a better life.  That is part of it.  He came to make spiritually dead people alive.  This is called regeneration.
  7. A Leader Has To Know Their Limitations – During a fight, Okoye told his opponent, “That’s a big arm.  Don’t fight it.”
  8. Great Leaders Are High-Capacity Leaders – In a single 24-hour period, Okoye survived a plane crash, beat up several soldiers, survived a gun shot wound to his stomach (it didn’t hit any vital organs), flew a helicopter with no tail, survived the subsequent helicopter crash, fought a giant alligator, and saved Chicago.  That’s a full day.
  9. Great Leaders Should Never Be Reduced To A Little Of Mediocrity – Okoye teaches the gorilla sophomoric and sexual-innuendo hand gestures.  Johnson, you’re better than that.

If you want to go see a movie this weekend, A Quiet Place should be your choice.  It is a great movie!
