The morning’s next speaker was Kat Cole.  Before being promoted to COO and President of FOCUS Brands North America, Kat spent four years as President of Cinnabon, Inc. where she was accountable for leading, evolving and building the team and multi-channel brand. During her tenure at Cinnabon, Cole’s team and franchisees accomplished franchise unit growth (1200 in 55 countries), profitability, franchisee satisfaction, philanthropic partnerships, and comp sales performance that is the strongest the brand has seen in over a decade.

  1. Hot Shot Rule: What can I START, STOP, and CONTINUE to be better for you? How can we change to be better?
  2. If today was your last day, imagine a better version of yourself that would take over. Name one thing they would do better than you. Then go do it immediately.
  3. Give yourself and others permission to change, and have a passion to learn and grow.
  4. Use the hotshot rule to model vulnerability, curiosity and humility and drive change.
  5. Set your own definition of success. Set your own goals and aspirations.
  6. What should I start, What should I stop, What should I continue doing to be the best partner / leader for you?
  7. Check-ins are important for relationships both at work and at home. “What can I start, what can I stop, and what can I do better to grow this relationship?
  8. We are hostage to our progress. Pretend you are a new hotshot in your role, what is the ONE THING you would do differently? Go and do that ONE THING.
  9. A good dose of what has pushed the world forward, is giving ourselves and others permission to change.
  10. It’s OK to think differently tomorrow than you did yesterday. It’s a sign of growth.

  12. Drive results. Fresh eyes are required. Be the new person on your team.
  13. Do not allow the perception of others, regarding your background, to compromise your confidence to move towards success.
