For the next two days, INJOY Stewardship Solutions has dispatched me to Catalyst ’18 in Atlanta. Catalyst is a 2-day experience to help leaders build great churches, grow strong teams, and be a catalyst for change. This year’s theme is Fully Alive and is based on what the Bible says in John 10:10 – “The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy; I have come that you might have life and have it to the full.”
In addition to the content provided, the team at INJOY Stewardship would like to offer you a FREE gift. As you know, October is Pastor Appreciation Month. Simply click HERE or on the image provided and download a done-for-you script which you can read in your services to honor your pastor and staff. Being a pastor can be challenging to say the least. These words will honor and encourage your pastor and rally your congregation to a standing ovation. Don’t believe me? Click HERE.
The morning’s next speaker was Miles Adcox. Miles is an entrepreneur, speaker, host, and coach. He is the Owner and CEO of Onsite, an internationally-known emotional wellness lifestyle brand that delivers life-changing personal growth workshops, inspiring content, leadership retreats, and emotional treatment.
The following are 24 leadership quotes and lessons from his session on mental and emotional health:
- The silence can be deafening but the noise of my head can be so loud.
- The moment he jumped off the Golden Gate bridge he immediately knew he had regret. He is in the 1% of the people who have attempted suicide of that bridge to live.
- We are not that far removed from that circumstance.
- The longest distance in mankind is 18 inches (head to heart).
- In leadership, we’ve got to be careful not to compare ourselves.
- We have emotional injuries like fear and anxiety.
- In leadership, I don’t have to be the hero of everyone else’s story. I get to be the guide. We get to join them.
- 90% have what we need. We just need to get it.
- The way of dealing with people since the 50s was confrontation. We have learned this does not produce sustainable results.
- Compliance is the #1 form of rejection.
- Our job is Empathy in Action.
- If we don’t offload stress, it will determine how we lead.
- It’s not the enemy trying to take you out. I don’t blame anxiety and cancer on the enemy.
- If we deal with people’s pain every day, it gets into ourselves.
- Lead with who you are, not what you know.
- Emotional health is not that far from spiritual health.
- EQ is outpacing IQ right now in leadership.
- You can’t do much with IQ. Your EQ we can raise.
- Time alone doesn’t heal emotional wounds.
- Enough of the right information doesn’t always change behavior.
- I grew up in church but never experienced grace until I went to rehab.
- Our job as leaders is to put down the microscope and pick up a mirror.
- We become better leaders by becoming better human beings.
- Healing happens in community. What we can’t do alone, we can do together.
Next up is Catalyst favorite Craig Groeschel.
Once again, I want to make it easy to honor your pastor this month. Click HERE or on the image provided and download this done-for-you script. Your Board chair or congregational leader can read it in the service. Trust me, few things will honor your pastor more.
