In 2019, I will be embarking on the most aggressive learning project I have ever personally undertaken.  As part of this process, I did a deep dive over the weekend on the subject of trust.  When you think of trust, telling the truth and doing what you say you are going to do immediately comes to mind.  But trust is so much.

The following are 23 Things Your Most Trusted Employees And Leaders Know:

“Everyone has their idiosyncrasies, but if there is trust, that’s the key in business, in marriages.  You build a sense of trust so you can go through rough times.” – Robert Kraft

Trust begins at home with how I treat my wife and daughter.  If they cannot trust me, I cannot expect anyone else to either.

Unto whom much is given, much is required.  This applies to trust as well.

Owners value stability.

Owners cannot effectively plan for the future if they cannot trust their employees to be available and be productive.

The employer must feel comfortable with the employee.  The employee must respect the employer.

All owners want people to trust their company’s brand.

I am a representative of the INJOY Stewardship Solutions brand.  To the extent people trust me personally, they also put a certain level of trust into our company’s brand.

Trust grows when layers are not built between employers and employees.  Layers, which prevent unfiltered communication, create distrust.

  • You must always respect the owner.
  • You must always respect the owner’s family.
  • You must alway respect the owner’s business associates.
  • You must always respect the owner’s time.
  • You must always respect the owner’s risk and financial investment.
  • You must always respect the owner’s name and reputation.
  • You must always respects the owner’s other employees.
  • If you do not respect these things, the owner cannot trust you.

As an employee, you do not have a platform.  You have built your platform on the owner’s.  Can the owner trust you with the notoriety their platform is allowing you to have?

Can you be trusted to be a good friend?

Can you be trusted to always be prepared?

Can you be trusted to put the good of the organization above what appears to be good for you?

Can you be trusted to put the good of those you lead over what is good for you as the leader?

Can you be trusted to be loyal?  Loyalty does not make you a leader.  However, disloyalty will disqualify you from leadership.
