No leader wants to be average. Every leader I have ever met wants to influence as many people as possible. They want to be great stewards of what they have been entrusted with and maximize their potential and those on their teams.
One such leader is Philadelphia Eagles backup quarterback Nick Foles. As you probably are aware, Foles quarterbacked the Philadelphia Eagles to last year’s Super Bowl championship. As I was watching Sunday Night Football last evening, they showed the attached graphic.

- Steady – Steady leaders give their teams a sense of security. They are fixed, immovable and therefore, safe. You always know what you are going to get with steady leaders.
- Resilient – Resilient leaders have grit. They keep coming back again and again. You can’t keep a resilient leader down.
- Poised – A poised leader is balanced. Trials and tribulations do not rattle a poised leader. They handle pressure well.
- Tough – A tough leader is long-lasting. They are durable and strong. Tough leaders can seemingly handle anything. They are calloused from previous struggles in their life.
- Gunslinger – The most successful leaders are risk-takers. They not only sense opportunity but seize it as well.
- Champion – This is the defining characteristic of a successful leader. They always find a way to get the job done.
- Competitor – Competitors love a challenge. They know there are always new mountains to climb. “Bring it on!” the competitor says.
- Cool – Cool leaders never get too high or too low. They have a sense of calm during times of high pressure and their teams follow suit.
- Loose – A successful leader is a relaxed leader. They have been through the highs and lows of their job before. They understand the seasons of ministry and business.
- Unselfish – Successful leaders are always about others. As a leader, your success is determined by how successful you make others.
