Live Blog From Johnny Hunt’s Mens Conference – 52 Leadership Quotes On A Man And His Enemies

Today I will be providing a series of posts from my annual visit to Johnny Hunt’s Mens Conference in Woodstock, GA.  This year’s theme is Game Plan.  Over 4,000 men will be live in attendance with another 25,000 attending via simulcast around the world.

Day 2 opened up Keith Boggs’s session entitled A Man And His Enemies.  Keith is a dear friend and an incredible leader.  He leads REAL MOMENTUM Ministries and helps churches establish an effective disciple-making ministry to men [offering men’s ministry coaching, local church men’s events, and strategic mission partnerships].   The following are 42 leadership quotes and lessons from his challenging lesson:

1. Just because I’ve been married 21 years doesn’t mean I’ll be married 22 years.
2. I know the enemy has a plan for me.
3. The devil has a much more effective plan to reach men than most churches.
4. It’s breathtaking how men have drifted because we don’t have a plan.
5. I’m not by myself. You’re not by yourself.
6. The first person you lead is yourself. If you have a hard time leading yourself you’re going to have a hard time leading anyone else.
7. Men are the largest unengaged people group in America.
8. Discipleship is a man caring enough about another man to help him build a relationship with God, his family, and the local church.
9. The Bible teaches us that society is an enemy.
10. We live in a culture that does not recognize God’s right to rule.
11. We live in a culture that does not recognize Scripture of a pattern for life.
12. The culture could care less about why we are meeting today.
13. Culture is robbing God of His glory.
14. We gave away our power to a secular Christianity that robs God of His glory.
15. Our greatest threat in America is a Holy God who sits upon a throne who rules and reigns in righteous and holiness. We must reconcile with this God if we want things to change.
16. Sin is an enemy.
17. Too many men are managing or trying to control their sin.
18. Sin’s desire is for you but you should rule over it.
19. Mens Ministry starts with God. If you have a right view of God you will have a right view of manhood and womanhood.
20. Your view of God determines your view about everything else.
21. God doesn’t want you to call an audible. God’s already called the play and He doesn’t want it changed.
22. God hates your sin. He is a holy God.
23. Do you know why we have problems as men?  Because we’re selfish.
24. We must submit to almighty God. You’ve been bought with a price.  You have no right to be selfish.
25. Selfishness whispers, “We cannot be happy unless we get what we want.”
26. We think God is like us.
27. Sin always salutes Satan.
28. Pride… God raises you up and sends you out through your humility.
29. Pride edges God out.
30. Pride is the parent of numerous sins.
31. Are you a man who is discontent today?
32. We don’t believe God.  If we believed God we would do what He says.
33. We have spiritual leaders who don’t know what it’s like to be a husband or father.
34. Evangelism is big league stuff. It requires a clean holy life.
35. Most of our men are in little league. What is the Bible and what does it mean to me?
36. The church will never come alive until you pour into men.
37. What do you have right now that needs to be given to God?
38. Do you really believe God cares? Tozier said what a man believes God thinks about him is the most important thing he thinks.
39. I pray you will find men of God who will preach the Word of God to your men.
40. We’ve stopped preaching the Bible.
41. When God speaks there is a crisis of belief and what you do next reveals what you believe about almighty God.
42. When we have an evil heart of unbelief we depart from the living God.
43. Satan is an enemy.
44. The devil is out to get men of God.
45. When you come to a church service or mens conference, it’s what you do with the Word of God given by the man of God.
46. The enemy watches your game plan.
47. You’re in this battle called life with wickedness and sin all around you.
48. Satan is using society and sin to take us down but we don’t need to give him a place in our life.
49. If we can help men win it can change their family, their church and the world.
50. Get in the game guys!
51. Practice makes permanent.
52. What you do on a continual basis is making something permanent.
