Jesus Christ is the greatest leader who has ever lived.  But when you consider the cost, is following Him worth it?  This is the most important question a leader will ever answer.  Today, the wonderful Co-Pastor of First Baptist Church Woodstock Jeremy Morton (picture to the left) addressed theis question using Philippians 1:27-30 as his focal passage.

To definitively answer this question, the following are 26 statements from Jeremy’s message Is Following Jesus Christ Worth It?

  1. We must decide if following Christ is worth it?
  2. Sometimes following Jesus is a pleasure.  Sometimes it is painful.  But every day is worth it because having Christ in my life means it will get better.
  3. Your heart was made for another world.  Your heart was made for Heaven.
  4. It’s better to be with Christ in jail than to be without Christ and be supposedly free.
  5. It is better to suffer in life and experience God’s presence than to be happy and not experience Christ.
  6. Jesus + Nothing = Everything.  Everything – Jesus = Nothing.
  7. Pain can be good if pain pushes you to Christ.
  8. Negativity is contagious but so is joy.
  9. Live your life worthy of the Gospel.
  10. They’re (Philippians) not there yet but Heaven has come to them.
  11. Don’t be so impressed with Rome you forget Heaven is better than Rome.
  12. The greatest testimony we can have is our personal sanctification that makes us more holy.
  13. We’ve cheapened and over-simplified WWJD.
  14. So many of us feel good because we compare ourselves to carnal, apathetic people rather than Christ.
  15. You have courage in your God-given conviction while being unified with other members of Christ.
  16. A tough guy without others is nothing.
  17. I have courage about biblical convictions but am not ugly or mean about it.
  18. A lot of people want to wear the uniform but don’t want to go to practice.
  19. Jesus suffered and we enter into intimacy with Him when we suffer.
  20. The surest sign of salvation is the person who keeps on persevering.
  21. Everyone has someone who has not quit on them.  His name is Jesus.
  22. Christians, we are citizens of Heaven.  Our behavior matters.  People are watching.  Because of Christ we refuse to quit.
  23. Today may be dark but a better day is coming.  It is worth it.
  24. Don’t be so proud of Rome you forget your citizens of Heaven.
  25. Citizenship matters but only one citizenship matter for all of eternity.
  26. Do you know Christ?
