26 Lessons On Being A Successful Christian

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” – Joshua 1:8

This past Sunday, Piedmont Church’s community pastor Marlon Longacre brought a compelling message on what a successful Christian looks like.  Many of his quotes were so compelling I wanted to share them with you.

The following are 26 Lessons On Being A Successful Christian captured from Marlon’s message:

  1. If you don’t know ask and ask someone who knows.
  2. We learn more from models than manuals.
  3. There is no greater cause than the cause of Jesus Christ.
  4. You cannot achieve God’s purpose for your life by yourself.
  5. There is a pattern to being a successful Christian.
  6. Look in the mirror.  Do a self-assessment.
  7. Faith and trust.  The way you start the Christian life is the way you live it.
  8. Successful people never stop growing.
  9. Revealing your feelings is the beginning of healings. – Rick Warren
  10. That which is personal is most universal. – Ron Dunn
  11. Successful people are honest with their faults.
  12. Grace is the power to change.
  13. God has a dream for your life and you need His grace and resources.
  14. Let go of yesterday.
  15. Focus on what’s left, not what’s lost.
  16. Success is forgetting yesterday.  Don’t let it control today.
  17. Successful people learn from their mistakes.  They don’t dwell on them.
  18. To handle the pressure on the outside you need Jesus on the inside.
  19. If your best days were yesterday, you’re struggling in the present.
  20. Laser focus on the future.
  21. Successful people are goal-oriented people.
  22. The outcomes God wants are built in obedience.  If we are obedient to Go we will get our outcomes.
  23. Nothing gets accomplished without effort.
  24. Effort takes energy.  God is energy.
  25. Things work better when they’re plugged in.  You work better when you’re plugged into God.
  26. If you don’t invest much, losing doesn’t hurt as much. – Dick Vermeil
