32 Lessons About The Prayer Life Of Leaders

Today I had the privilege of being interviewed at a monthly lunch-and-learn event called Lunch With A Leader.  This event is hosted by NorthStar Church and its senior pastor Mike Linch.  Over 100 business leaders, first responders, coaches, educators, government officials, and ministry leaders attend each month and learn principles of spiritual leadership from Mike.   The goal is to change the communities of Acworth and Kennesaw, GA by helping people lead with their faith out in front.

The following 32 Lessons About The Prayer Life Of Leaders I captured from today’s teaching:

  1. “I have read the lives of many eminent Christians who have been on earth since Bible days.  Some them, I see, were rich, and some poor.  Some were learned, some unlearned… But one thing, I see, they all had in common.  They all had been men of prayer.” – J.C. Ryle
  2. There are things right in a leader’s life you notice it.  If there are things wrong in a leader’s life you notice it.
  3. David was very emotional.
  4. Worry comes natural.  Prayer does not come natural.
  5. Worries are just prayers we say to ourselves.  Prayers are taking the things we worry about and giving it to Someone who can do something about it.
  6. Everyone can have the capacity to pray because we all have the capacity to worry.
  7. If you are going to leave a legacy, you must develop the capacity to pray.
  8. Let you prayers be driven by God’s Word.
  9. Be careful in leadership where your advice comes from.
  10. Bad advice looks selfish.  Be careful of the people you put around you in leadership.
  11. Bad advice is worldly focus.
  12. Leadership is about getting everyone on your agenda.
  13. Let the light shining in you be greater than the light shining on you. – Dabo Swinney

  19. When others doubt you, remember that God is with you.
  20. Remembering God is with you is a game-changer.
  21. Begin to pray out loud to the Lord.
  22. Prayer shows dependence.
  23. Daily you need the Lord to guide your feet and guard your heart.
  24. Let your prayers outlast your problems.
  25. The good news is your problems are going away.  The bad news is new ones are coming.
