Today I am being dispatched by INJOY Stewardship Solutions to bring you the top leadership thoughts and lessons from the Courage To Lead Conference in Birmingham, AL.  I LOVE this coaching organization.  Led by Founder and CEO Shawn Lovejoy, they work with you to help you discover who you are, and lean into it.  Their coaching helps you assess where you need to go, and help you measure success.  Hope is not a strategy, so they help you plan for what’s next through assessment, goal setting, and accountability.

The Courage To Lead coaches help you clarify your PURPOSE, lead with more PASSION, set & maintain PRIORITIES, achieve goals that mark PROGRESS and more effectively lead PEOPLE.  Click HERE to sign up for their FREE assessment of your church or organization.

The event’s next speaker was Leonce Crump.  Léonce is the Founding and Lead Pastor at Renovation Church in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. He is also the author of Renovate: Changing Who You Are by Loving Where You Are, a book about what he learned in the process of planting Renovation Church.

Before getting to his comments, I want to make you aware of a new online giving organization, GiveINJOY.  If your church or organization is not happy with fees you are paying for or customer service you are receiving from your online giving provider, then click HERE or on the image above to sign up for a FREE demo. They have the best rates in the industry.  That means MORE MONEY for MORE MINISTRY.

Now as promised, the following are 24 leadership quotes from his inspirational session on courageous dreams:

  1. Everybody has currency outside of money.
  2. Taking notes is the Anglo-Saxon “Amen”!
  3. We forget that leaders are dreamers. You cannot be a leader if you are not a dreamer.
  4. Leaders have to be able to dream beyond something beyond their present reality.
  5. Sometimes we get so bogged down in the task of leading we forget to dream.
  6. Sometimes we got bogged down in the activity of the organization they can’t move the organization forward.
  7. Leaders imagine the world in a way that others cannot or will not.
  8. Leaders must operationalize their dreams.
  9. Courageous dreams create resistance. If everybody likes what you’re saying, you’re probably not saying anything worth hearing.
  10. There are haters for every generation. Wherever there is success, there are haters.
  11. When God gives you a dream, it doesn’t mean everybody is going to get on board.
  12. Sometimes we kill the dream God gave us while waiting for the collaboration with people who will never get on board.
  13. When you have a courageous dream it is easy to get distracted or discouraged, especially when there’s opposition.
  14. Courageous dreams require wisdom.
  15. Joseph’s problem was not the dream that he had but the people who told.
  16. I’ve made a fool of myself telling the wrong people the right thing.
  17. Courageous dreams require character.
  18. 2019 was the hardest year of my life and the core of it was a gap between my gift and my character.
  19. It’s hard for people to point out your faults when you point them out first.
  20. There is a gap between the gift and character and we fill it with activity and success. Eventually the activity and success consume your character.
  21. Courageous dreams cost greatly.
  22. If the way you’re leading and the dreams you’re dreaming don’t cost you anything, maybe you’re not leading in the way God would have you.
  23. Courageous dreams require patience.
  24. When you’re a visionary, a dreamer, you lead future forward. You’re leading six months into the future when the people you’re leading are three months in the past.  Then there’s total chaos because of a 9-month gap in the people you’re leading.  Then you make the mistake of trying to get them there faster than they’re capable and then you get mad at them for something they’re not capable of doing.

What a great session session!!!
