The following is What John Maxwell Says Is The Key To Your Leadership. All quotes are his.
- The key to leadership is priorities.
- We hear about time management. There’s no such thing as time management… How do you manage something that’s already set.
- It’s not time management we need. It’s priority management. It’s not the time that we have that’s the problem. It’s what we do with the time.
- I was doing too many things in my life. I was doing the wrong things. That’s a recipe for disaster, doing too many wrong things.
- The Pareto Principle says, “The top 20% of your priorities will give you 80% return if you spend 80% of your time on the top 20% of your priorities.
- You have to evaluate or stalemate.
- Pareto says if you’ve got 10 things to do you shouldn’t be doing 10 things. He said you should be basically doing two things.
- 20% of the people will take 80% of your time and it’s almost always the wrong 20%. If they’re coming to you, they’re the wrong 20%.
- 20% of the book contains 80% of the content.
There are 3 questions to help you determine your top 20%:
- What is REQUIRED of me? What do I have to do that no one else can except me? All my life I’ve worked hard at getting out of stuff… If they can only do it 80% as well as I can do it, it’s still good to pass it on.
- What give me my greatest RETURN? Your return is in three areas – giftedness, experience, and growth. What you’re learning and growing in is what your passionate about. And what you’re passionate about almost always has a good return.
- What is REWARDING to me?
