Several years ago, nine students from Howard University were accepted to be part of a summer program at the British Academy of Dramatic Acting in Oxford. However, like many college students, they needed financial assistance. Actress Phylicia Rashad reached out to some of her friends to see if they were willing to assist these young artisans.
Soon thereafter, one of the students received a letter notifying him that his tuition had been paid by a generous benefactor.
That student was none other than Chadwick Boseman who would go on to become the Black Panther. The benefactor who gave in secret was none other than Denzel Washington. On June 21, 2019, Boseman told this story as Washington was being presented with the American Film Institute Lifetime Achievement Award.

Matthew 6:4 says, “But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”
