Two days ago a pastor from London, England called me to discuss ideas about how to jump start growth in his church.  The challenge he was facing was his church was down to a weekly online audience of 10 people.

This is an extraordinarily difficult ministry environment because England has had severe gathering restrictions in place since March and churches are not considered essential.

After giving him counsel on best practices to growing his online audience, I asked him to tell me his story and how he got into ministry.

He said he grew up from South Africa.  When he was young, a missionary from (you guessed it) London was sent there to help evangelize his home country.  It was through these missionary efforts of England that he accepted Christ.

Now as an adult, he felt God was sending him to London to re-evangelize and help bring revival to the country which was responsible for his salvation.

When he finished speaking I said, “Wow, that’s an amazing story.  After listening to your journey, I wonder how long it will be until people who were led to Christ by missionaries sent from America are sent to America to evangelize our country?”  His response indicated the time could be soon.

Earlier this week I wrote a post about how the greatest mission field in America today is likely inside its very own church walls.  You can read that post and its supporting data in the article 17 Reasons American Pastors And Church Leaders Are Asking AND Answering All The Wrong Questions.

Much like London, England, missionaries may soon be coming to America.
