There are three things that if a leader does not have them, they will never, EVER, survive or be successful.  On Sunday, January 24th, Dr. Crawford Loritts, the incomparable senior pastor of Fellowship Bible Church in Roswell, GA, preached a message from 2 Timothy 2:14-26 on the issue of perspective.

He noted in his opening comments, “You can’t survive without two things transactionally – wisdom and perspective.  You can’t have these without humility.  Pride will make you stupid.  It is an expression of neediness.”

We learn from Crawford’s words that there are 3 Things A Leader Cannot Be Successful Or Even Survive Without – Wisdom, Perspective, and Humility.  Crawford focused on the issue of perspective in his message which you can watch HERE.

The following were his comments and a reminder the Bible is the greatest leadership book ever written:

3 Implications on Perspective

  1. “You get a fuller picture of what you’re dealing with.”
  2. “You know what’s important and doesn’t change.  It’s (Truth) not unrooted or untethered.  You must know your thinking and truth… Respond, not react.”
  3. “It helps you choose a path forward in light of current reality.”

Focus on Clarity. v. 14-19

  1. “Keep reminding people of the primacy of Christ.”
  2. “Faithfulness of the stewardship of responsibility (as a pastor) brings the favor of God.”
  3. “We have a job to do (as pastors).  It is rightly handling the Word of Truth… Let God’s Word interpret God’s Word.  It is self-explanatory.”
  4. “The music is not central to the service.  The Word of God is central to the service.”
  5. “The preacher serves what God says… He (God) doesn’t need help.  Say what He said.”
  6. “Parasites need a host.”

Focus on You and Your Purity and Holiness.  Focus on Consistency. v. 20-22

  1. “Don’t use fine china to feed dogs.”
  2. “Compel people not just with your mouth but with your holiness.”
  3. “Consistent growth in holiness and purity gives your holiness credibility.”
  4. “You won’t overcome your sin by focusing on your sin, but by pursuing Christ-likeness through accountability and community.”

Focus on You and Your Issues.  Focus on Christ-like Character v. 23-26

  1. “Don’t waste time on issues and controversies which lack common sense.”
  2. “Don’t be entrenched in immaturity.”
  3. “Common sense is a flower which doesn’t grow in everyone’s garden.”
  4. “The Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome.”
  5. “It is NEVER acceptable for a believer to not exhibit the fruit of the Spirit.”
  6. “We want the truth associated with Christ without the character of Christ.  This involves suffering.”
  7. “Is the issue the lord of my life or is Jesus the Lord of my life as I address the issue?”
  8. “My character must eclipse the conversation and issue.”
  9. “You don’t want to win arguments.  You want to change lives.”

What are three things you learned from Crawford’s message which will better help you lead with Godly perspective?
