Last past month I started posting Interesting Stats For The Day on my Twitter and Facebook accounts.  The response of this information was quite substantial.

Much of the information is from a daily email I receive called Morning Brew.  I like the information they provide because it is simply down-the-middle, bullet-pointed content with no slant or bias.  Just the facts!!!  You can check out this site and/or subscribe by clicking HERE.

The following are 13 Interesting Stats From May 2021:

Christianity

  • Lubbock, TX, just became a “sanctuary city” for the unborn. On Saturday, May 1st 62% of the people voted to save the lives of babies & outlaw abortion there.
  • In 2019, Pew Research reported 58% of white evangelicals said cohabitation OK if a couple plans to marry. Last month, David Ayers at the Institute for Family Studies learned nearly half of evangelical Protestants aged 15-22 who were not currently cohabiting or married, said that they would probably or definitely cohabit in the future.

Get Your Degree

  • 1.7% of college football players will make it to the NFL. 100% of college football players will be doctors, lawyers, pastors, business leaders, serve their community, or some other profession as well as husbands, fathers, neighbors, etc… Use football. Don’t let football use you. Get your degree!!!

Failure Isn’t Final

  • 14 of the 20 teams (70%) in the NBA Playoffs are led by head coaches who were fired at one point or another in their coaching careers. If you’ve ever been fired, don’t put a period where God has put a comma.

Bigger Isn’t Always Better

  • About 45% of store openings announced so far in 2021 by large retail chains are dollar stores CNN Business reports. Dollar General accounts for almost 1/3 by itself.

How Much Information Do You Really Need To Make A Decision

  • 63% of people who bought a home in the US last year made an offer without seeing the property.

Bill and Melinda Gates’ Divorce

  • The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, according to some accounts, it’s the largest private foundation in the world, with more than $51 billion in assets.  It gave more than $1 billion to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • The Bill and Melinda Gates fortune of more than $124 billion is equivalent to the combined market cap of Twitter, Marriott, and Ford, larger than Morocco’s annual GDP, and triple Harvard’s endowment.

What are readers really interested in?

  • 44% of the New York Times’s new digital subscribers last quarter came from its cooking, games, and audio products.
  • Did you know when you order a digital book, not only are your purchase habits being tracked, but so are your reading habits? Per Jellybooks, a website who provides free ebooks in exchange for receiving reading data back, men quit reading after 30-50 pages on average. Women quit on average between 50-80 pages. Interestingly, the the genre of books which have the highest rate of not being completed are business books.

Health and Fitness

  • Per the World Health Organization, people who work 55+ hours a week have a 35% higher risk of stroke and 17% higher risk of dying from heart disease. Wow!!!
  • Per a recent study in the medial journal The Lancet, a global record of 1.1 BILLION people smoked in 2019.  It also stated that over 200 million deaths in the last 30 years are related to tobacco use.

“I just want to order a #3.”

  • The food service industry lost 2.5 million jobs in 2020 but only gained back 442,000 in Q1. Have you tried eating out anywhere recently??!!
