People like predictable environments.  Therefore, smart leaders give the people what they want and expect.  With this in mind, I just watched F9: The Fast Saga.  This is the ninth movie in the Fast and Furious franchise.  And it was what you would expect – fast cars, impossible action sequences, plenty of “that could never happen sequences”, and just summer movie fun.  You can relax, turn your brain off, suspend reality, and just have some fun.

To give some context per The Morning Brew, about 1,800 cars have been destroyed in the films of the Fast & Furious franchise, not including F9 which added countless numbers to the total.  Fun fact: Insurance companies use movies like the F&F series to train actuaries on how to calculate loss, per Screen Rant.

The premise of the film is Dom and “the family” must recover a global war device stolen by a spy network and para-military group lead by his younger brother Jakob.  At the end of the day, this film is all about brothers separated by tragedy attempting to reconcile.

Another thing I was pleasantly surprised by was only one cuss word and no partial nudity.  If you’re looking for a fun movie and good time, check out F9.

The following are 11 leadership quotes and lessons from F9: The Fast Saga:

  1. Dom’s father told him just prior to his passing, “It’s not about being a stronger man, it’s about being a bigger one.”
  2. Great Leaders Have Great Self-Awareness – When having to choose a risk-taking life over a domesticated one, Letty, played by Michele Rodriguez, told Dom, “This is who we are.”
  3. Successful Leaders Play To Their Strengths – Letty said, “Careful is when you get hurt.”
  4. Cipher, played by a returning Charlize Theron, said to Jakob, Dom’s little brother played by John Cena,, “Qasar Khan, Genghis Khan’s little brother, no one’s heard of him either.”
  5. Everyone’s Actions Within A Team Affect All Other Team Members – Dom said, “It’s one me.”  To which Roman, played by Tyrese Gibson replied, “Whatever’s on you is on us.”
