10 Leadership Quotes and Lessons From Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins

Last evening I attended the opening showing of the new film Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins.  If you are looking to shut your brain off and just enjoy two hours of action and entertainment, this movie is for you.  In fact, I enjoyed it more than Fast and Furious 9 which I would put in the same category.

One thing to know if you are a fan of the G.I. Joe franchise, this movie stands alone.  You do not need to see the other editions to enjoy it.  In fact, this is the best one of the franchise.

Film Overview

In the opening scene from 20 years prior, a teenage Snake Eyes, played by Henry Golding, witnesses his father brutally murdered by mercenaries after rolling, you guessed it, snake eyes with a pair of dice.

The movie then jumps to present day when Kenta, a crime figure, offers a bitter adult Snake Eyes a job in exchange for handing over his father’s killer.  Snake Eyes then befriends Tommy, played by Andrew Koji, who unknowingly has a long history with Kenta.  Tommy would eventually becomes Snake’s friend and then chief rival Storm Shadow.

What ensues are a series of betrayals and extended fight scenes over the “Jewel of the Sun” which gives its holder almost unlimited power.

Family Entertainment

There is only one cuss word, no hint of sexual innuendo, and no violent impalings despite the many sword fights.  Think about early X-Men Wolverine fight scenes for context.  If you are looking for something to do this weekend and have not seen Black Widow, Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins is a good option.

The Top 60 Leadership Quotes From 2021 Part 1 is my latest ebook.  For many entering a post-pandemic environment, leadership looks completely different than the pre-pandemic world.  People are more broken now. They are more uncertain. Fear and anxiousness are unwelcome constant companions. Cultures are more unhealthy. Relationships are more dysfunctional.  Hope seems to be in short supply.  Every day seems to bring a new hacking, natural disaster, or unexpected calamity.

Therefore, the fundamentals of leadership are more important than ever. The quotes in this book deal with the basics of leadership.  If you want to be the best leader you can possibly be, click HERE or on the image provided to download this FREE resource.  The lessons learned from last year, if applied, will sustain you for years to come.
