Spider-Man: No Way Home Overview

Spider-Man: No Way Home is absolutely outstanding!!!  Super-hero movies rarely garner Oscar consideration but this one should.  It is the best movie I have seen in 2021 by far!

Depending on where you rank it, it stacks up with the first Avengers, Infinity War, and Endgame as the best Marvel film ever produced.  It is that good.  Simply incredible!!!

The movie picks right up at the conclusion of the previous film Far From Home.  Parker is dealing with the repercussions of being outed as Spider-Man and falsely accused of the murder of Mysterio.  This pressure extends to his family and friends and creates undue challenges in each of their lives.  Parker and his friends become part of the cancel culture.

Things become so difficult that Parker goes to Dr. Strange and asks for a spell to make most people forget he is Spider-Man.  What ensues is villains Green Goblin, Sandman, Lizard, Electro, and Dr. Octavious are unleashed into this universe and begin wrecking havoc in Parker’s life.

This is a must-watch movie and has several scenes which will go down in cinematic history.

3 Leadership Lessons

  • Leaders Must Make Hard Decisions – This movie is ultimately about a series of hard decisions by Peter Parker – asking Dr. Strange for a spell, attempting to heal the villains rather than sending them back to their universe to die, and most of all, giving up all his personal relationships to save the planet.  Leaders who aren’t willing to sacrifice cease to be leaders.
  • You Can’t Move Into The Future Unless You First Touch The Past – Smart leaders don’t live in the past but they certainly touch it before moving forward.  The inclusion of previous Sony Spider-Man characters results in some of the most memorable scenes in movie history.  The interplay between Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire was surprising, delightful, and Oscar worthy.  The theater I was in had loud cheers when they appeared on screen.  In addition, you cannot overstate how much Marvel honored their audience with this movie.
  • Teamwork Makes The Dream Work – During the climatic battle scene, two of the three Spider-Men (I can’t believe I just typed that sentence) realized they had never worked in a team setting before.  They always operated individually.  However, to defeat five super-villains they had to work together as a team.  Tom Holland’s Spider-Man referred to his Avengers experience and showed them how to work as a team.
  • “Everyone deserves a second chance.” – This was one of Aunt Mae’s favorite sayings and a constant theme throughout the movie.  Nowhere was this highlighted more than when Garfield’s Spider-Man had a chance to save MJ, thus giving him redemption for the death of Gwen Stacy.

Additional Leadership Quotes

  1. Fame Does Not Necessarily Equal Wealth – Parker said, “I’m the most famous person in the world and I’m still broke.”
  2. Leaders Must Properly Manage Expectations – MJ continually said, “If you expect disappointment, you’ll never be disappointed.”
  3. Leaders Must See The Big Picture – “In the multi-verse, their sacrifice means more than their lives.” – Dr. Strange made this statement when weighing the cost of saving the lives the film’s villains vs. allowing them to go back to their universe to die.
  4. “With great power comes great responsibility.” – These were Aunt Mae’s final words to Parker.
  5. “Are you going into battle as a cool youth pastor?” – Parker, played by Andrew Garfield, to Parker, played by Tobey Maguire.  This was the film’s funniest line.  Maguire had his Spider-Suit on under his clothes.
  6. “When You Help Someone, You Help Everyone” – These were the words on Aunt Mae’s tombstone.

In conclusion, I want to thank Marvel.  This movie contained no social agendas or potentially offensive storylines.  It was the type of movie that made us fall in love with Marvel in the first place.  I hope this starts a new trend.

The Top 60 Leadership Quotes From 2021 Part 1 is my latest ebook.  For many entering a post-pandemic environment, leadership looks completely different than the pre-pandemic world.  People are more broken now. They are more uncertain. Fear and anxiousness are unwelcome constant companions. Cultures are more unhealthy. Relationships are more dysfunctional.  Hope seems to be in short supply.  Every day seems to bring a new hacking, natural disaster, or unexpected calamity.

Therefore, the fundamentals of leadership are more important than ever. The quotes in this book deal with the basics of leadership.  If you want to be the best leader you can possibly be, click HERE or on the image provided to download this FREE resource.  The lessons learned from last year, if applied, will sustain you for years to come.
